Home Business – Freedom or Captivity

Posted by Oze Parrot on 25th October 2007

One of the most compelling aspects of being able to work at home is the acquisition of personal freedom. Freedom from commuting to work, freedom from dull office routines and freedom from being directed by a superior. There are also some restrictions associated with working at home. You will not be able to enjoy the company of fellow workers or join in any social activities provided by an employer. You will be housebound and become part of the daily household routine, without being able to escape to the office or call in at the local.

Home OfficeThere is also an element of loneliness attached to running a home business, even though your family and loved ones are nearby. Working in the seclusion of a home office can affect people that are used to the vibrant pulsation and noise that exists in an outside work zone, in different ways. This is just one of a number of unforeseen, negative aspects of establishing a home business that should be considered.

A new household routine may have to be established to determine your recreational periods, when you might want to mingle with your family, and the times that you must work alone in your home office to concentrate on business. What effect, working alone has, depends entirely on the individual and mostly applies to an online business where your only companions are a phone, fax and computer.

Establishing an online business can also involve other negative aspects such as lack of proper exercise, becoming withdrawn and becoming preoccupied with business related issues. It is not unusual for a dedicated, online business owner to sit at a computer for twelve hours a day or more, to study, research a variety of subjects or write software code, as well as handle e-mail enquiries and post promotional material.

Any person who is considering opening a home, online business venture must set aside time for exercise, socializing and family activities before he takes the plunge. The very idea of working at home is to improve your lifestyle, not only financially but socially as well.

Establishing a lucrative online business that requires you to sit at a computer for fourteen hours a day checking stats and counting credits is absolutely worthless if your health fails, you never have the time to relax or you don’t have the time to enjoy the company of your family.

Any successful home business owner has carefully examined the pros and cons of working at home. When making the decision to start your own home business make sure that it is right for you. You must be passionate about your product and devoted to achieving, however you must never forget that your business success is only a stepping stone towards achieving your dream lifestyle, and that is the freedom to travel, enjoy life and spend quality time with your family.

Establish A Successful Home Business

Posted by Oze Parrot on 14th October 2007

Some of the main benefits attached to starting your own home business are that the starting costs are very small, there is no need to rent or purchase a business premises and there is no need to commute. Now, this does not mean that there are no start up costs. Just because you have a home with power, a phone, a study and good neighbors does not mean instant business address.

Office DancingThe very first thing to do is check with your local government authority to determine whether or not they allow people to conduct a commercial operation from their homes, and if so, is a registration fee applicable. Once official approval has been granted for your business application the next step is to establish your business address at the local post office.

Your home business premises does not encompass the entire household. Your home office should be private from the house, yet accessible to the public via a separate entrance. Visitors should be afforded basic facilities, including adequate seating and access to comfort room facilities.

A home office should be well lit, quite and well appointed. There should be enough power points, telephone connections and lighting fixtures to make the facility comfortable and functional for management and customers alike. It is essential that you install a business phone line to your office as well as a fast cable connection for your office computer. The temptation exists to use the home phone for your business activities as well as for social calls, but you would be well advised to have a business phone installed and keep your home phone number private.

Home business start up costs are only a fraction of the cost of establishing a business premises in the commercial center of town, there are no added lease payments to make, no commuting costs and your monthly out goings will be little more than there are at present. Bear this in mind when you are setting up a home office, allow yourself a generous budget to properly establish a competitive business venture and enjoy the benefits of having a limited monthly expenditure.

Market your products effectively and, provided that you are producing quality items that are competitively priced, then your success is assured. By establishing a good name in the marketplace you will become well respected and your home business will develop into a lucrative venture.

Viral Marketing An Internet Marketers Strategy

Posted by Oze Parrot on 21st April 2007

The aim of every Internet marketer is to establish and retain a large client list, it is however, probably the hardest task of all to accomplish. E-mail advertising was once a very successful medium for acquiring a personal list of would be customers, either by direct mailing campaigns or through the use of safelists.

Viral MarketingDuring the past couple of years the effectiveness of E-mail marketing has steadily declined to a point where it is not reliable and completely unpredictable. There are several reasons for this, the introduction of spam laws, advanced e-mail filtering systems, the introduction of list blasters and automatic e-mail box cleaners, amongst others.

First appearing on the Internet in the mid ’90s, Viral Marketing was overshadowed by FFAs, message boards and safelists, but today, it has emerged in various forms to become one of the Internet Marketers most productive list building tools. This marketing Strategy, if used correctly, can effortlessly generate a seemingly endless stream of sign-ups that will rapidly expand any business venture.

Viral Marketing is akin to word of mouth advertising, and by getting your customers to place your Tell-a-Friend code on their pages, that’s exactly what is happening. They are happy with the product and pass a link on to their visitors who in turn sign-up in order to get further information about the product.

Your sales are creating more sales, that’s what it is all about. Of course, their are many ways to create this phenomena. A weekly newsletter containing useful info and a couple of freebies will keep your readers interested. A Blog is a great way to interact with your list members as you have the facility to allow readers to write comments and even to post their own articles which can also attract comments.

Then there is the E-book, the ultimate Viral Marketing tool. Write your own E-book that contains info about your product or service with links to your web sites and a few useful tools that readers can download after signing up for your list, newsletter or whatever. Give this E-book away as a bonus or gift to members of your list who will pass it on to members of their lists. Also publicise it on your blog as a sound information article about your product, so the search engines will index it.

SMS texting is also fast becoming a productive means of Viral Marketing and, as modern technology advances and introduces more communication devices, I am sure that Viral Marketing will continue to dominate the Internet Marketing industry.

Private Label Rights Articles For Content

Posted by Oze Parrot on 19th April 2007

Once that you have determined a suitable niche product and hosted your web site, in order to get it ranked by the search engines and to keep it ranked, you will need to regularly publish fresh content on your site.

Article ContentI have found that the best method of doing that is to publish keyword rich and informative Articles that directly relate to your niche product. The search engines love original content and if you can provide fresh Articles regularly then your site will be quickly indexed and receive high rankings, it will also be refreshing for your visitors to find a site that provides sound information.

If you have a flair for writing and a thorough knowledge of the subject, then it is not a hardship to publish a few Articles every week. You will be branded as an expert in your particular niche, your site will be well ranked and your niche product will be promoted, via the search engines.

On the other hand, if your writing skills are not your best asset, or most of your time is spent in other areas of the promotion and development of your business, then you will need to either hire a ghost writer or purchase Private Label Rights Articles.

A ghost writer, who will provide you with well researched, good quality, unique articles of 500 words or more would command anywhere between eight and twelve dollars per Article. PLR Articles can be purchased for as low as 25 cents per Article.

There are many places on the Internet that advertise PLR Articles, mostly membership sites that provide a certain number of Articles per month. Some of these clubs supply good quality Articles while others do not. Now, once you have looked around and selected a suitable source of PLR Articles, you begin to receive 30 or more Articles per month that apply to your niche product. That’s great, but they will require a certain amount of editing.

Why should I edit Private Label Rights Articles, you may ask?

Consider this, the program that you belong to supplies other members with the very same Articles relating to your niche that you receive every month. Depending on the program, the number of members getting a copy of the same Article may be restricted to anywhere between two and five hundred publishers. Some of these people may send the Articles to their own lists as a bonus or use them as a tool to recruit more sign-ups.

The point is, that there are hundreds of copies of your PLR Articles in the hands of other publishers. By using the 80/20 rule of thumb, let’s consider that 20% of members may alter the title and the intro, while 10% also alter 30% of the content and maybe, 5% rewrite the entire Article. So, your PLR Article is not unique unless it is thoroughly edited.

These days, the search engines are quite particular about sites that contain duplicate content, in fact to continually post duplicate content is a really quick way to get your site dropped from the rankings. That means that any fresh Articles you publish on your site must be unique as well as content rich, in order to impress the search engines.

Now, you may be asking, why bother with PLR Articles?

Well, if you are getting good quality Private Label Rights Articles they are going to save you a lot of time, because the research has already been done, the facts are accurate, the content is complete with a title, opening paragraph and a conclusion. In other words the basics, the ideas and the format are all there, ready for you to edit.

By going through the Article one paragraph at a time and rewriting it in your own words, a good 500 word Article can be turned into your unique Article in about 30 minutes. And, don’t forget to insert the keywords that you have used within the body of your Article in the new title.

Manual Traffic Exchange Traffic

Posted by Oze Parrot on 14th April 2007

An extremely good flow of Traffic can be obtained by using Manual Traffic Exchanges, or TE’s. This is an ideal way for newbies to start promoting their profile, product or web site, as this method of advertising is very affordable, even free, if one chooses not to upgrade. All it takes is a little effort and by spending 15-30 minutes of your time 3 or 4 days a week surfing for credits.

Traffic FlowThere are many Manual Traffic Exchange programs to be found on the net, most of them operate along the same lines, that is; a surfer views a site for a predetermined time, either 10, 20 or 30 seconds then clicks on to the next site, and so on.

In return for viewing a number of sites, the surfer will have his site viewed by other surfers at a ratio of 2:1, so for every 2 sites viewed the surfer will have his site displayed once to other surfers.

It is a good idea to join several TEs to broaden your range of potential visitors, as well as to familiarize your self with the various methods that are used by different Traffic Exchange programs.

Which TEs should I join?

Well, that is really a matter of personal preference although there are a few basics that should be considered, like the surfing ratio, cost to upgrade and service provided.

One of my favourite TEs is: Traffic Exchange

The script is excellent, there are no hoops to jump through, no silly games to play, which only interrupt your surfing, no frame breakers, no Trojans and very good service. Just click on your surfing link, start surfing and receive your hits.

You will find other reputable TEs promoted on this Exchange, so it shouldn’t be too long before you become a member of 8 or 10 Traffic Exchanges and sort out the most suitable ones for you to work with. It is best to steer clear of those TEs that constantly display frame breakers or Trojans and don’t deliver your Hits. Always track your pages to make sure that you are receiving your hits.

Please, don’t expect a flood of Traffic overnight from the TEs, because that is not going to happen. People have got to get used to seeing your pages and get to know the person behind them. You must promote yourself and your image as well as your product. This all takes time, in the mean time, experiment with your pages, make sure that they load quickly and are aimed to capture the viewers attention. Your persistence will be rewarded with an ever increasing flow of Traffic from the Manual Traffic Exchanges.

Article Writing Using Key Words

Posted by Oze Parrot on 12th March 2007

Article Writing Using Key Words is a rather subtle method of advertising your niche product web site. By Writing informative articles about your niche product that include a link to your web site, submitting them to Article directories and ezines for publication, the articles will be indexed by the search engines.

Article WritingPeople that search for info on your particular product will be referred to your Article, click on your web site link for further info and voila, you have visitors. Apart from that, there are many others that use Article directories as a source of content for their own publications, so your articles could end up on a countless number of web pages, all advertising your link.

Articles should not only contain info about a particular subject, they should be properly constructed, well written using correct grammar and spelling as well as contain Key Words that relate to the product. Ideally, as many Key Words as possible should be sprinkled throughout the Article, without distorting the content or detracting from the quality of the Article, of course.

The title of the Article is extremely important and should be composed entirely of Key Words. Why, you may ask? Well, when people are searching for info on the net they may type a word or two into the search engines, e.g., “gold fish bowl” followed by “Article”, this will return a heap of articles that relate to gold fish bowls.

Now, any indexed articles that have “gold fish bowl” in the title, are going to be on the front page, well ahead of another article entitled “Charlie’s fish tanks”, even though Charlie’s Article may have relevant, quality info. The comparison here may be a bit extreme but I am sure that you see the point of using Key Words in the title of your articles.

When looking for Key Words, I use Overture’s Keyword Selector Tool which is no cost and very easy to use. Type in a word or phrase and it will spit out the number of searches that were made for that term during the past Month. You will also be presented with a list of related terms and their degree of popularity with searchers.

This information is quite valuable as it indicates how many people are searching for a particular product and the phrases that they are using. You should be able to discover Key Words relating to your niche that you had not thought about.

Overture’s Keyword Selector Tool is over here: Keyword Selector Tool

Marketing Your Web Site

Posted by Oze Parrot on 27th February 2007

Any type of business web site must be advertised in order to attract visitors to the site. People will never know that Your Web Site exists, unless they are told where to find it, no matter how professional or how attractive it may be.

Internet MarketingThe process of Marketing Your Web Site begins with the domain name that you choose and the key words that you use to identify and describe your business Site. Ideally, the domain name should relate directly to your product and include some of your keywords. Select a cross section of keywords from phrases that are used to describe your product and it’s benefits.

By optimizing your Site with unpopular keywords your site will be highly ranked with the search engines but you will receive little traffic because few people are searching for those words. On the other hand, by using the most popular key words in your tags you are dealing with more competition, which may result in your Site being poorly ranked.

There are many ways of advertising Your Web Site, some free, some paid, some good and some not so good. Paid advertising will get you good coverage with your ads being read, however, if you are not up to writing good copy then you may need to pay a copy writer in order to get positive results.

As far as no cost advertising goes, what works for one does not always work for another. There are safe lists, classifieds, FFAs, banner exchanges ad blasters and a multitude of other programs, some of which are time consuming and iffy.

I have had some success with Ezine ads. Most Ezines, in return for your membership will allow members to post a classified ad in each edition. Generally, most members read the ads and, if your ad is appealing, you will get visitors to your Web Site.

From my experience, the best method of no cost advertising is article writing. If you can write quality articles with good content that carry links to your Web Site then you are way ahead. Post your articles in Ezines, your own blog, article directories and of course, submit your article to MPAM.

World Wide WebBefore Building Your Website one has to choose the theme of the site very carefully, as it will be your home page and landing page for any other sites that you may build in the future. If the site is to be used to market a niche product that you have a passion for, then the domain name that you choose should reflect the product, as well as contain key words that you will be using in the site’s description tag.

For those people that that have a knowledge of html, or wish to learn the language, there are a number of excellent html editors about, some of which are fr double e. If you find html confusing then there are a number of editors, such as Front Page, where basically all you need to do is write the text.

There are also various membership sites that allow people to download Website templates or pages that are already built, the only thing to be done is write the text and put in your own links. Be selective when choosing a template as there are many to choose from and an attractive header and page layout is important, particularly for the home or landing page.

Basically, Your Website would consist of four pages linked together. First there is the home page, which is a descriptive page that tells people what your site is all about and should contain useful content.

A links page that contains inbound links as well as links to other pages and Websites.

A site map that lists all the items and links contained in your site.
