Home Business Marketing strategy

Posted by Oze Parrot on 10th May 2006

Budgeting for a vigorous and continuous advertising campaign is an essential element of your Home Business Marketing strategy, and in order to get the best results, your advertising has to be targeted towards the most receptive audience.

The OfficeBy researching your intended market you can find out where your prospective customers are most likely to come from, their income, buying trends, sex, age and, most importantly, the type of advertising media that they find most receptive. If you intend to market an existing product, this area of research will also provide you with details of where consumers are presently obtaining the product, and wether they are likely to purchase from you.

Once you have determined where your intended customers are, then you can target this group and focus your advertising directly on them. Before you commence trading, send out press releases through the Internet, post a link to forums and publish details of your business in your blog. Issue a press release to your local newspaper and do letter box drops in the surrounding neighborhood.

Do members of Your target market belong to a club?

If your prospective customers are members of a club such as bowlers or golfers then it would be wise to advertise a discount to club members. Similarly, if you are a member of a club or group then offer a discount to fellow members and offer a bonus that pertains to their club’s activities.

And, don’t forget the power of an affiliate program. Introduce your product to club members and list members by offering them a commission on any purchases that are accredited to them. Your product will then be promoted by a chain of independent people that will increase with every sale.

A well thought out Marketing Strategy for your Home Business will play a vital role in your future success.

Research Your Business Plan

Posted by Oze Parrot on 8th May 2006

You have decided on starting your own Home Business, emanating from a hobby or an interest that you are passionate about. You have discussed your ideas with your family and friends and they are supportive. Your enthusiasm is high and you have a burning desire to turn your idea into a successful and lucrative business.

The OfficeNow is the time to Research Your Business Plan and consider the feasibility of your Business idea. Initially, you will need to gather information about the potential for your Business idea’s success in the marketplace. Will your Business enjoy success in the short term? If so will this short term success be sustainable and be able to be developed into a business that will enjoy continued success?

Studying this information before you commence trading can make the difference between your success or failure. Interest, passion and desire alone, are not enough to guarantee success. Some Business plans work very well while others are destined to fail. Failed businesses are often the result of an operator neglecting to do some basic Research and making an informed decision on the feasibility of his venture.

When you Research Your Business Plan consider the following

Define your product, will it be an information or software product that can be delivered via the Internet, or a manufactured product that requires to be picked up or delivered.

If you are going to market a manufactured product, what will your overheads be, how much stock will you be required to order and do you have the necessary storage space?

Define your marketing strategy; where is your market, who will be your prospective customers, how will you reach these customers and how much will your advertising cost.

Define your budget; after you have accounted for your office equipment, set-up costs, stock purchases and the incidental expenses that may pop-up, can you maintain a stable advertising campaign?

Your budget has to allow for all of your day to day running expenses plus the costs of a continued marketing campaign, until your Home Business becomes self supporting. This could happen very quickly, depending on the venture, or it could take some time.

Do some careful research into the feasibility of your business model, apply the results and be successful.

I, personally, have a “L” shaped desk that is arranged in a corner of my Office, this permits me to have all my needs within easy reach. There are two large windows, one overlooking the lawns and gardens, the other gives me an uninterrupted view of the Bay, from the beach to the distant islands.

Your Office chair is extremely important

Select an Office chair that is fully adjustable, is on castors and is comfortable for you to sit in for long periods of time. Do not penny pinch when buying this item, get a known brand and one that will suit your needs. A quality Office chair will serve you for many years.

If, during the course of your business, you need to entertain clients or prospective clients, make sure that you also provide adequate and comfortable seating for them. This will leave a good impression on them and help you to establish your business interests.

Most of the furniture in my Home Office is on castors, this is something to consider when you are getting new furniture for your office. It makes cleaning that much easier, their is less effort involved when you want to relocate your Office furniture and it also helps when you need to reach power plugs or switches.

Think comfort, your working conditions are very important and being comfortable in your Home Office is essential for your success.

Home Business Success Means Achieving Goals

Posted by Oze Parrot on 6th May 2006

The Success of your new Home Business will heavily depend on your strategy, Achieving the Goals that you have set and your enthusiasm.

Assuming that you have set-up a functional Home office with the tools that you need and an atmosphere conducive to productivity, then it’s time to enable your plans and strive to reach your Goals.

The OfficeYour primary Goal will include the very reason for starting a Home Business and this will depend entirely on your desire, whether that is to provide a better way of life for your family, or to succeed at earning a comfortable living through your own initiative. You must identify the reason behind starting a Home Business, plant an indelible picture of it in your mind and refer to it constantly.

Make sure that the Goals that you set are achievable.

Break your long term Goals up into small segments that can be achieved, either daily, weekly or monthly. Maintain records of these events and reward yourself each time that you make progress towards your ultimate aim.

It is a good idea to keep a diary to record daily events and as a reference that will help to keep you motivated. When you are your own boss it is so easy to, put off until tomorrow what you don’t feel like doing today. Each working day should result in an achievement or at least a reasonable effort made towards reaching an achievement.

When there has been a lack of progress towards your set Goal, then you must stop and take stock of the situation, revise your strategy and plan to succeed. Don’t chide yourself, just review your efforts.

Each failure is a stepping stone towards Success.

Discuss daily, the events of your Business dealings with a family member or at least an interested friend. Chatting about your day, with your family over dinner, is a great way of involving them in the Business.

You can report your wins or losses to your family, gain their support and suggestions. This will go a long way towards maintaining a high level of enthusiasm and motivation.
