You have decided on starting your own Home Business, emanating from a hobby or an interest that you are passionate about. You have discussed your ideas with your family and friends and they are supportive. Your enthusiasm is high and you have a burning desire to turn your idea into a successful and lucrative business.
Now is the time to Research Your Business Plan and consider the feasibility of your Business idea. Initially, you will need to gather information about the potential for your Business idea’s success in the marketplace. Will your Business enjoy success in the short term? If so will this short term success be sustainable and be able to be developed into a business that will enjoy continued success?
Studying this information before you commence trading can make the difference between your success or failure. Interest, passion and desire alone, are not enough to guarantee success. Some Business plans work very well while others are destined to fail. Failed businesses are often the result of an operator neglecting to do some basic Research and making an informed decision on the feasibility of his venture.
When you Research Your Business Plan consider the following
Define your product, will it be an information or software product that can be delivered via the Internet, or a manufactured product that requires to be picked up or delivered.
If you are going to market a manufactured product, what will your overheads be, how much stock will you be required to order and do you have the necessary storage space?
Define your marketing strategy; where is your market, who will be your prospective customers, how will you reach these customers and how much will your advertising cost.
Define your budget; after you have accounted for your office equipment, set-up costs, stock purchases and the incidental expenses that may pop-up, can you maintain a stable advertising campaign?
Your budget has to allow for all of your day to day running expenses plus the costs of a continued marketing campaign, until your Home Business becomes self supporting. This could happen very quickly, depending on the venture, or it could take some time.
Do some careful research into the feasibility of your business model, apply the results and be successful.
